My feeling is that as we hear
each other's stories, lovingly, nonjudgementally and with compassion,
we begin to heal our woundedness. We're all able to give each other counsel;
it's a gift freely given. Sometimes we may wish to seek counsel from
someone who has already walked a little further along the path than we
have.
Most of us spend a good portion of our lives
hiding from certain aspects of ourselves. We devise a multitude of tactics
to keep those painful parts at bay. These tactics can work for a while,
as they allow us to continue to function in the world. But gradually
the tactic, be it alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, overworking, overeating
or any other excessive or compulsive behavior, begins to cause suffering
as well. Instead of helping us cope, it interferes with our enjoyment
of life.
When we become aware of this fact, we have
the choice to continue hiding from ourselves or to stop running from
the suffering and address it. Usually by this time a lot of fear has
built up around our painful issues from the past. Having a loving guide
beside us can be very helpful in facing our fears.
Since 1985 I've supported many courageous
people who have consciously made the choice to embrace all of themselves.
What I've discovered time and time again, is that the part they were
hiding from was their emotions; the painful, the angry and the fearful
feelings.
I've yet to find the magic pill that removes
traumatic experiences. And I've yet to find a shortcut to circumvent
feeling repressed emotions. What I've come to learn about pain, anger
and fear is that they want us to be with them long enough to be expressed,
to move through our body. Just as an infant or child expresses their
emotions naturally, we too can give ourselves permission to feel our
feelings naturally, in the safety of a healing environment. The emotional
release technique I use to facilitate this process is called Externalization.
I was fortunate to learn Externalization
from Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, MD, a leader in the death and dying movement.
She held workshops around the world for many years, helping people release
their backlog of emotions. After doing her workshop in 1984, I knew that
I had found an incredible key to unlock my own repressed emotions and
I was eager to share it. I went on to do Elisabeth's training program
and learned how to facilitate this process with my clients.
My counseling practice is wholistic in nature.
I help my clients focus on their goals and aspirations, taking much from
the Technologies for Creating course. I teach them how to see Current
Reality as it really is and clearly articulate their Visions. I also
use Elisabeth's Four Quadrant Model to explain what health and wholeness
can look like in terms of the Physical, Intellectual, Emotional and Spiritual
bodies. From this model, together we can clearly assess what areas of
the person's life they would like to bring into balance.
I work intuitively and use massage, Quantum-Touch,
Soul Retrieval, Aura-Soma Color Healing, yoga, Interactive Guided Imagery
and Externalization to help facilitate movement of blocked energy. The
client is in control of their own therapy, going at their own pace and
taking responsibility for their healing process. I see my role as being
a loving, supportive guide and teacher.
Although the path to health and wholeness
requires commitment, dedication, patience and a great desire to be present
and responsible, it is richly rewarding. This path leads to inner peace
and a joy for living.
Daily I renew my choices to be healthy,
to be free, to love myself and be of loving service to others. As a result
of doing my own inner work, my life is more creative and joyous. Relationships
are deeper, more honest and more fun. Work is more nurturing and fulfilling.
When my heart is open, life is magical, a gift to be unwrapped, moment
by moment.
Each person that I've walked the healing
path with has been a blessing in my life. I learn from my clients as
much as they learn from me; a healing relationship is an equal relationship.
It's one of the greatest joys in my life to counsel people, to listen
to their stories, to honor and respect their woundedness and to help
them learn to love all of themselves.

TESTIMONIALS
I have been working with Carol Landrum for
years. I recommend her highly and deeply. Her wholistic counseling and
emotional release work have accelerated my growth immeasurably and aided
my ability to walk with ease on this planet. She is a remarkable practitioner.
Her ability to hold a safe space for ANY intense emotions, without judgment,
is truly remarkable. I know that comes from the fact that she has done
her work and is a clear channel.
Recently I came to her for feeling “I
hate everything” and overflowing with anger and ill-will toward
everyone and everything in my life. After 2 sessions in two days, I moved
through so much OLD deep intense stuff, that I was able to drive back
to Los Angeles feeling ‘back to myself’ - a joyful loving
participant of life. What a gift! I am very grateful to Carol for her
nurturing and grace.

In 1992 my life seemed monotonous, stale and most of the
time I felt drained and depressed. I was tired of my teaching job but felt
very lost on what to do next. I had no direction. At that time I was also
participating in a traditional Eating Disorder program for my chaotic eating
habits, but I felt I was getting nowhere with my healing. So I decided
to leave Buenos Aires, my hometown, and travel to San Diego.
There I met a woman who knew how lost I
felt, so she recommended I call Carol. When I heard Carol’s soothing
voice I knew right away she would be the person that would assist me
on my healing journey. At that time I didn’t know anything about
emotions. I had been raised in a family where women could not express
any ‘bad’ feelings, so I was terribly scared of them. Through
Carol’s guidance I started to learn more about the importance of
embracing and honoring all of my emotions, and how important it was to
take excellent care of myself.
Carol created an environment of unconditional
love and support so I could feel all the emotions that I had been carrying
inside myself for years. I also started to see how all of my unexpressed
emotions were blocking me in creating the life I desired to create: One
of love, peace, joy, creativity, abundance, and trust.
I went back home to Buenos Aires in 2001,
and now I am doing what I love to do – counseling and helping others
heal their emotional wounds. Since I met Carol in 1992, our work together
has been truly remarkable. She continuously teaches me to keep opening
my heart through her unconditional care, support, love and trust. Today
my life is magical as I can truly say I am living the life I always dreamed
of: One where I flow with joy, love and trust in unison with the Universe,
as I express WHO I AM in this world.

Carol, you really are one of the most authentic people
I know. Words just cannot express the gratitude I feel for having you in
my life. Thank you for your strength, courage and commitment. Thank you
for listening to me and believing in me. Thank you for your honesty and
patience. And thank you, thank you for leading by example!!!
The work I've been doing with you has been
indescribable, wonderful, scary, amazing, enlightening. I feel like I'm
losing my balance to find my REAL balance. I am re-prioritizing on every
level, learning how to take better care of myself in order to fulfill
my purpose of helping others. My self-awareness has skyrocketed - it's
like this light bulb that keeps getting brighter and brighter. I am seeing
the interconnectedness of everything, understanding how the challenges
I face in my life are really these amazing gifts and opportunities to
grow. Knowing this is helping me to open my heart, to be more loving
and patient with myself because I am finally UNDERSTANDING the root of
my anger, fear and sadness - where my obstacles are coming from. Already,
it has had a wonderful impact at work and in my personal life. The issues
that come up with my clients and loved ones are always related to the
work I'm doing on myself. Carol, your guidance and support are truly
amazing. Thank you for helping me to listen and to honor myself. I love
you!
